Editor-In-Residence: Traditional, Self-Publishing or Hybrid

There are now a lot of different ways to get a book published.  Each one has advantages and disadvantages.  For example, traditional publishing can take years but doesn't cost you anything, while self-publishing may involve costs but can get your book to the market really quickly.

Editor in Residence: Editing and Proofreading 101

There is a lot more to editing than just checking grammar and spelling. It can include everything from checking that you have historical facts correct to making your humour funnier. There's a standard sequence of editing steps, and understanding the steps will make revising your own writing go more smoothly. 

Optional component: Participants will have the opportunity to have a brief review of a piece of their writing.

Building Resilience Skills

Resiliency is an essential quality for each of us to have in order to maintain good physical and emotional health. This talk will focus on three building blocks of resiliency: emotional intelligence, optimism, and coping skills. The session will also touch on the impact of stress on women, in keeping with the theme of International Women’s Day (March 8).
