Home Alone Program

Designed by the Canadian Safety Council, this program helps prepare 9 – 11 year olds for being home alone during short periods of time.  Participants will learn basic first aid and safety procedures, as well as to recognize hazards, and when and how to use 911.  Offered in partnership with St. John Ambulance.

What's New in Astronomy - a youth Astronomy Presentation

Join Ian Wheelband of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada for this engaging presentation, followed by a telescope viewing of the night sky (weather permitting).

Nutrition Series: Nutty about Nuts and Seeds!

Nutrition Seminar #2 with Dietitian Samantha D'Arcy. Nut butter, nut milk, nut flour, nut cheese? How many different ways do you use nuts and seeds your diet? Join us in this class to learn how to make delicious dishes with nuts and seeds. We’ll learn about the health benefits of nuts and seeds, myths and facts about sprouting, and so much more. In the first of 2 nutrition seminars Sobey's Dietitian Samantha D'Arcy returns to explore the foods and nutrients that make up this lifestyle, and how it is helping people live healthier with fewer conditions such as heart disease. Applying for Canadian Citizenship

Learn about the new changes to the Citizenship Act, the rights and responsibilities of Canadian Citizenship, eligibility requirements, application process, document preparation, free settlement services available in the community, and resources from the Library that can help you prepare for your test.
